The Dreamers & Doers book project

04.03.2013

From 2011-2013 the Ladies' Trekking Club and Impatiens Kilimanjari Foundation compiled a book called Dreamers & Doers. Over 50 women from 30 countries wrote their life stories for the project. The women who told the stories have one thing in common: they have all taken a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro.

Every author has had an inner ‘mountain’ to climb and a peak or goal to reach. The book bears a connection to the textbook project regarding Tanzanian schools: readers get a book, and the students get a textbook.

The cost of the book project was 350,000 euros.

Our dream is to put together a similar book about the men who have climbed Mount Everest. This project would support schools in Nepal so that they could buy textbooks for children.

We would also be glad to see these exceptional stories made into a film one day.

The original photos and stories used in this project are all protected by copyright laws and agreements. A special Kilimanjaro expedition was organised for the compilation of the book in March 2013.

The book can be bought and ordered as an e-book on Amazon Kindle ($9.60), iTunes ($9.99) and Kobo Books (£8.00).

A limited number of hardback copies are still available. The price (€45) includes a copy of Dreamers & Doers, international shipping and a textbook for a Tanzanian student. Contact: info@ikfoundation.com
